Nina Gibbes De sanguinis (Of blood)
De sanguinis (Of blood) explores the strangely similar patterns woven through the universe that form nature’s matter. My work reflects formations as minute as the cellular structures in blood to vast celestial bodies in space. The patterns that emerge from the microscopic to the cosmic allude to a universal blueprint that links every existing form together. Using photographs of coral taken in Fiji, the printmaking medium gave me the ability to produce works that are organic in appearance. De sanguinis is both a personal tribute to an island and an expression of wonder at the complexity of the natural world.
