Rebecca Soon Moving portraits; this moment contains all moments

‘Take the time to stop and capture the moment’. We are preconditioned to believe that objects appear a certain way while in motion, thus unknowingly missing reality. In a society that prizes perfection, blurred photographs are criticised; however, I believe they capture lost moments. My artwork seeks such ‘lost’ moments, endeavouring to defy the boundaries of fine art while recontextualising the gallery space – making it art. I have challenged principles of traditional portraiture by unveiling the beauty within human movement. I hope to encourage others to look beyond what they believe, to find the hidden beauty overlooked in everyday life.
