Georgina Whatmore Painting - product or process?
Essential to every artist’s practice is their choice of materials and tools, the significance of which is often forgotten or overlooked. My paintings aim to express the subtle yet inherent beauty of the very same materials which were instrumental in producing my work by making them their own subject matter. This in turn provides insight into my own practice, conveying how much more there is to an artwork than the resolved product on the gallery wall. The imperfect, twisted, well-worn forms should provoke contemplation on the significance of the discreet, commonplace objects everywhere in the world surrounding us.
