Mia Eve Carey Mankind's creation
Mankind’s creation aims to communicate the continual decay and desolation in industrial, urban and architectural landscapes while also encapsulating the beauty that can reside in these environments. This idea is contrary to traditional aesthetic conventions of artmaking. My interest in philosophy and art history helped me to achieve the overarching meaning, encouraging me to understand and challenge deeply-rooted notions of aesthetics in photography. This series was developed through continuous and drastic measures of digital manipulation, experimenting with multiple exposures and exploring modernist and postmodernist conventions.
