Elliot Gibson Anansi
My body of work is a contemporary representation of the trickster from Caribbean mythology, Anansi, who is famous for using his cleverness to fool humans. I sought to create a modern, multicultural version of this character by blending animation styles from Japan, 1970s psychedelic and contemporary American cartoons, as well as music ranging from Mongolian throat singing to Australian psych-rock.
