Art After Hours: Meditate Just like drops in time, nothing
Take a moment to slow down and become aware of your senses in this guided meditation class within the exhibition Making Worlds, alongside Ernesto Neto’s installation Just like drops in time, nothing (2002).
Led by Sydasana Workplace Wellness, you’ll be guided through a series of seated and moving meditation exercises for a slow and mindful art experience, exploring the sense of smell.
Neto’s room-sized sculpture is often smelt before it is seen. Its intense aroma derives from spices suspended within a translucent, pendulous fabric membrane. Like many of the works in the exhibition, it draws our attention to the physicality of bodies, inviting a sensory and immersive engagement with art.
No experience is required for this class and all abilities are welcome. Feel free to bring your own yoga mat. Cushions will be provided.
This event is part of a regular program of interactive workshops – Create, Draw, Meditate and Move – on Wednesday nights during Art After Hours at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, inspired by the Art Gallery’s collection and the art on display.
