Workshop in the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ study room

In this series of four workshops with artist Evan Salmon, you will learn a variety of pencil drawing techniques, including practical elements of construction such as composition and tonal relationships as well as refined aspects of touch.

This series is limited to eight people only and is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a small exclusive environment.

You’ll meet in the Members Lounge on lower level 3 of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’s south building, Naala Nura, at 10.15am then move to the study room on lower level 2 at 10.30am to study drawings and prints from the Art Gallery’s collection, up close and unframed, as inspiration for the workshop.

Evan Salmon is an artist with over 30 years of experience, working primarily in the mediums of painting, drawing and printmaking. He was a Sulman Prize finalist in 2006 and won the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize in 2015, and currently lectures in drawing at the National Art School.
