Stewart MacFarlane Last light

Last light is the result of a recent painting trip through the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Working on location for several days resulted in oil studies that were the basis for this large work. Landscape and urbanscape have always underpinned my broader body of work. It is liberating to be unshackled from the city studio and respond to the rawness that presents itself on a rambling outback journey, working in the moment, with scenes that change hour to hour and day to day.
