Still from Mighty Maddy’s mission to the future

Join Maddy Suy and the award-winning social impact filmmakers from Phoenix Eye Films, led by Maria Tran, for the premiere of the short film Mighty Maddy’s mission to the future, a heartwarming tale of bravery and endless possibilities.

Nine-year-old Mighty Maddy is on an extraordinary adventure. After a nap, she encounters a superheroine version of herself in the mirror, who sends her on a mission across the multiverses. Maddy must defeat ninja space bandits to save her plushie, Tina the sloth, who has the 'cure' to something in reality. Will she succeed and discover the power of imagination?

Mighty Maddy’s mission to the future will be preceded by a short documentary, Silent warriors. Through intimate interviews with affected families, medical professionals, researchers and advocates, Silent warriors will provide a heartfelt glimpse into the challenges and triumphs surrounding Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a type of brain tumor that primarily affects children.

After the screenings, Maria Tran will facilitate a Q&A with Maddy Suy (who stars as Mighty Maddy), Maddy’s father Alan Suy and others, followed by a performance from the Mighty Maddy Choir.

This event, held in the lead up to DIPG Awareness Day (17 May), is part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales program Make it May.
